15 Gift ideas to say Thank You to your Employees

Let’s face it. We’ve all had a tough year and whilst we may be still in the midst of this never-ending lockdown, it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom! After all, it’s February - the month of love and appreciation - the perfect time to show a little extra affection and kindness to your friends, family and of course your employees!

In our last post, we focused on the various different ways that you can say thanks to your employees, if you want to share your love and appreciation for them. This time though, we thought we’d highlight some of the best options for saying thank you with a gift. So, if you want to keep them happy, acknowledge their efforts and say thank you to one (or all) of the employees in your startup, here are 15 gift ideas to help you do just that...

First things first, if you're going to get the gift-giving right, you’ll need to know a little about your employee. You might already know what they like from general chats that you’ve had or you might remember some of the hobbies and interests that they’d highlighted on their CV when they first applied for a role in your startup.

Whichever applies, we reckon that these options would definitely be welcomed with open arms - by the right member of your startup team...

Patch

For the nature-lovers or green-fingered employees, you could say thank you with a gift that grows, choosing anything from an easy-care low maintenance plant through to something that's a bit more of a grand affair! And with remote working seemingly the norm at the moment, a little greenery can be a great gift for anyone in your team - to brighten the home office or that corner of a room that they’re using for their zoom calls!

Beam

For those with a social conscience, Beam gift cards are a great choice. This fab social enterprise is on a mission to help provide career opportunities for homeless men and women. By thanking one of your employees with a gift card from here, you’ll actually be enabling them to help change someone else's life. They will be directly supporting a homeless person and helping them progress to a brighter future.

Oddbox

For the healthy ones that don’t need to be reminded to get their 5-a-day, you can say thank you with a box of farm-fresh odd and surplus fruit and veg. And not only is it healthy but it’s fighting waste too. The only drawback is that if you’re all working from home, you’ll not get the chance to see (or sample) the healthy snacks or lunches that they rustle up, thanks to your gift!

BoroughBox

For the foodies, nothing would say thank you better than a gift from one of the independent food and drink producers and artisans featured here! Whether it’s cheese or chocolate, gin or coffee, there’s bound to be something new and tasty for them to discover on this marketplace.

Craftiosity

For the crafters, a one-off gift or a recurring subscription will really show you appreciate them and know how much they love being creative. The kits contain all the materials, tools and of course instructions and guides that they’d need. Previous kits have covered everything from macrame to book-binding, so the creative sort in your team is bound to love it.

Udemy

For the learners, a thank you gift that’ll quench their thirst for knowledge will go down well - whether that's on a work-related subject or not. And with more and more of us appreciating the benefits of life-long learning, it’d probably be a gift that’d be embraced by anyone in your team.

AirBnB Experiences

For the experience junky, a thank you gift from here and you’ll be opening them up to an entire world of new experiences from the comfort of their home - from cocktail master classes through to dance classes and meditation sessions.

Bookishly

For the avid reader, a one-off crate or a subscription from here will be a thank you gift that also helps them build up their book collection (perfect for those Zoom backgrounds)!

Books That Matter

For the book-loving employee that likes to be enlightened and educated at the same time, this subscription service is great. Each box focuses on a particular empowering theme and contains a book by a female author as well as gifts that have been crafted by independent female creatives.

Gadget Discovery Club

For the gadget lover, this is the perfect way to say thank you - providing them with a gift of anything from a smartphone gadget through to the latest in music tech.

Honeywellbakes

For the employee that loves to bake but doesn’t want the hassle of having to shop for ingredients, a letterbox gift from here would be the perfect way to say thanks! The kits contain all the ingredients they’d need - no last minute nipping to the shops required - and there is something for everyone's taste - from an Emergency Chocolate Cake kit through to a Garden Focaccia Bread kit!

AdventureShe

For the adventurous ladies in your team, a subscription gift to this magazine will surely be welcomed. Filled with inspirational stories of women from across the world, it aims to empower, educate and entertain through sharing stories of adventure.

Touchnote

This is perfect if you’d like to send a quick thank you but be a tad more creative. You can send personalised and branded thank you cards with ease. You choose the design, what you want to say, add the recipient’s address and they’ll do the rest. No trips to the post office needed! Good old snail mail but in a fun way!

Dishoom

Team meetings may not be happening as they once did but that doesn’t mean they need to be dull - especially if you decide to treat your employees to one of these fab kits. Their Bacon Naan rolls are a staple of the London breakfast meeting scene and now thanks to these kits can be enjoyed from the comfort of the home too.

Ben

This is a perfect option if you’re not planning on singling out an individual employee but instead want to improve the overall culture in your tech startup and ensure that all your employees are happy and motivated. As well as enabling you to provide all your employees with a Ben Mastercard (with your budget set of course), you can also use it to give special recognition or celebrate an employee’s achievements. And right now they’re providing the Ben at Home service for all those working remotely, providing everything from expert-led remote activities through to discounts on wellbeing and high street brands.

Whilst it’s fab to be generous to your employees and to show your appreciation with a gift such as those we’ve outlined, do remember that it’s not always necessary.

For many people, a simple email, text or phone call with the sole purpose of saying thank you can have even more meaning and can be even more powerful than a gift…
